Quick and simple installation

1. Wire in the Passiv Programmer

The Passiv Programmer is installed in the same location as a standard central heating programmer, most likely near the hot water tank. The Programmer can be attached directly to a wall or onto a vertical, flush-mounted, 2-gang back box to aid cable management.

The Programmer contains a built-in wiring centre to simplify the heat pump installation and should be connected to any zone valves, auxiliary pumps and the heat pump itself.

The wiring connections and cable clamps are all push-fit to allow for a speedy, hassle-free installation.

2. Connect the Passiv Hub

The Passiv Hub is wired into the Programmer and connected to the home broadband router with the supplied ethernet cable. The Hub is mounted onto the supplied Hub wall bracket.

An internet connection is not required for installation or commissioning and is only needed if the homeowner wants to use the Passiv app.

3. Join the Passiv Thermostats

Wired Passiv Thermostats are connected to the Programmer using standard 2-core cable (pre-existing or newly installed) and will pair automatically with the Programmer. The wired Thermostats are mounted onto the supplied Thermostat wall brackets. These can be attached directly to a wall or onto a flush or surface-mounted 1-gang back box to aid cable management.

Wireless Passiv Thermostats should be charged up and paired with the Programmer at the commissioning stage. The wireless Thermostats are mounted onto the supplied Thermostat wall brackets. The Thermostats are recharged with a USB-C cable.

4. Commission the system

The Passiv Smart Thermostat is commissioned from the rich colour screen of the Passiv Programmer in under two minutes without the need for a smartphone or internet connection. Just follow the simple on-screen commissioning steps to complete the installation.

The Programmer also features several handy installer tools including an immersion test and the ability to set a permanent or temporary maximum flow temperature.

5. Handover to the customer

The Passiv app and in-home controls have simple, intuitive user interfaces for a seamless handover to a homeowner. The Passiv app provides clear steps to guide a customer through the process of creating an app and controlling the Passiv Smart Thermostat from a smartphone.
